“We’re pioneering solutions to the most critical challenges facing Zimbabwe”

theSxoll is a twelve month, hybrid transformational leadership program (with both residency and non-residency features) offering an experimental co-learning model, theoretical frameworks, hands-on, skills-based and leadership development modules and models. Yearly, we identify ten young people to go through this leadership transformation impacting not yes than 10 000 people. theSxoll represents our instrument of expression to Zimbabwe’s multifaceted challenges, offering young people the opportunity to design and frame the future they are likely to live in.

Over the last three years (2017 – 2020), we have taken time to reconnect with what it means to be human; our conversations with Zimbabweans of diverse backgrounds whose struggles and hope are best epitomized as desiring ‘opportunity, chance, serve and dignity’. Cynicism, resignation, and anger resulting in ‘short circuits’ increasingly continue to frame pillars of a society registering diminishing retains. In these multiple conversations, we were challenged to re-think our ways of appreciating the other person, to raise the voices of the forgotten and those left behind, working with another person in a world increasingly polarized and divided. It is in moments such as these that great-life changing ideas are always born. Three agonizing years of testing assumptions, grounding truth to power and false starts have been affirmed with a global COVID 19 induced pandemic requiring that young people take a more proactive role in re-imagining the future.

2020 is a special year for Zimbabwe, it marks 40 years of political freedom. Launching theSxoll at this defining moment is by no means fortuitous. Young people who are often forgotten, experience the worst forms of abuse, unemployment, inequality and poverty and yet there are better positioned to actively represent their own interests and offer solutions to their predicaments. We strongly believe that, allowing young people to shape the future they are going to live in presents an opportunity to offer solutions that are more effective and more enduring. Young people are feeling distant from current societal offerings, disengaging from processes that inevitably shape their future – this is why we are convinced with our belief and faith in young people.
